In this article, Sew Fine II Interiors – conveniently located in Durham, North Carolina (NC) – is here to provide you with information on the ways blackout shades can make homes more comfortable, so you can decide if they will work in your home.

You may think that having just a little light in your bedroom at night isn’t a big deal, but studies have shown that even a small amount of light can significantly disrupt your sleep schedule. However, the right window treatments can help you avoid this problem and sleep a little easier at night. Hunter Douglas offers blackout shades to help make your room darker and more comfortable, so you can get more restful sleep at night. We at Sew Fine II Interiors offer the full selection of Hunter Douglas room darkening shades and can aid you in finding the right style for your home. Stop by our showroom today to learn how blackout shades can make your home more comfortable.

Even though blackout shades cannot keep all of the light from entering your home on their own, they can significantly darken your room to help you rest easier. These window treatments are typically made from opaque, heavy fabrics in darker colors. Not only is this great for keeping light out, but it can also help insulate your home, so it stays warmer in the winter and cooler in the summer. Because the temperature won’t fluctuate as much, your home will stay at a more comfortable level all year long.

One of the best options for blackout shades are the Duette® Honeycomb Shades. These shades feature small pockets which trap air and keep it from escaping through your windows. Because of the pockets, there is an extra layer of fabric, which makes them perfect for blackout shades. In addition, they are available in a wide range of fabrics, including options for light-filtering and room-darkening.

If you prefer to have blinds in your home, we also offer wood and metal blinds with room-darkening capabilities. Our Hunter Douglas horizontal blinds are available with the de-Light™ feature, which reduces the size of cord holes and light gaps. This way, when your blinds are closed, you can minimize the amount of light that will seep through. With the deLight™ feature, you can choose between our Parkland® Wood Blinds, EverWood® Alternative Wood Blinds, and Modern Precious Metals® Aluminum Blinds.

To learn more about adding amazing blackout shades to your home, contact the experts at Sew Fine II Interiors. Our team has over 30 years of experience and can help you find exactly what you need to create the perfect look in your home. We are located in Durham, North Carolina and are proud to serve the surrounding areas, including Chapel Hill, Pittsboro, Cary, and Raleigh, NC. Along with our excellent Hunter Douglas window treatments, we offer many other products, including furniture, lighting, rugs, and much more. Stop by our showroom today to see how we can help you make your dream home a reality.

In this article, Sew Fine II Interiors – conveniently located in Durham, North Carolina (NC) – is here to provide you with information on why custom blinds beat store-bought every time. We proudly offer the full line of Hunter Douglas products.

When decorating their home, many people try to cut costs wherever they can, which can sometimes lead to subpar products. While it may be tempting to choose cheaper blinds from a department store, custom blinds are a better option. Hunter Douglas offers a beautiful selection of blinds that not only look better but are higher quality and offer many functional benefits. Sew Fine II Interiors offers the full line of Hunter Douglas products, and our friendly professionals can help you see why Hunter Douglas blinds beat store-bought every time.

Hunter Douglas offers a gorgeous array of both vertical and horizontal blinds, so you can outfit any window in your home. Vertical blinds work well for both wide windows and sliding glass doors. Because they open side to side like your windows and doors, vertical blinds won’t impede the use of these fixtures. In addition, they are available in aluminum, vinyl, and fabrics to give you the customization options you need.

Horizontal blinds are ideal for traditional or specialty-shaped windows. You can choose from aluminum, wood, and wood alternative to help you create exactly the look you want in your home. They can be customized in several different ways, and since they are made specifically for your windows, we can outfit a variety of sizes and shapes.

Along with the sizing differences, custom window treatments are better for fitting into the existing style of your home. Generally, department stores only carry a few popular colors and styles, which may not work for every home. However, Hunter Douglas window treatments are created especially for you, so you can choose many factors for your window treatments, including colors, patterns, and textures. This way, you can be confident they will look great in your home.

We also offer a variety of different operating systems for our custom blinds, including the award-winning PowerView® Motorization system. This innovative operating system allows you to control your motorized blinds by simply pressing a button on either your smart device or the Pebble® remote control. In addition, you can use the PowerView® app to schedule your window treatments to adjust on their own, so you won’t even have to give them a second thought.

To learn more about adding amazing custom blinds from Hunter Douglas to your home, contact the experts at Sew Fine II Interiors today. With over 30 years of experience, we can help you find exactly the products you need to turn your house into your dream home. In this article, Sew Fine II – with a decorated design studio conveniently located in Durham, North Carolina (NC) – is here to provide you with information on Hunter Douglas sheers and shadings, so you can choose the best style for your home. We also proudly offer the full line of Hunter Douglas window treatments, including the exclusive Alustra® line of shades.

With the vast variety of styles in window treatments, it can be a chore to find the best fit for function, your style needs, and your budget. Sheers and shadings are a great option for any home, because they offer a beautiful, elegant look along with many functional benefits. At Sew Fine II Interiors, we offer many different options for custom sheers and shadings from Hunter Douglas, and our trained staff can help you choose the best style for your home. Stop by our decorated design studio today to see why you should choose sheers and shadings.

Sheers and shadings offer many benefits for your home. These window coverings offer excellent levels of light control and are especially great choices if you enjoy softened natural light in the rooms in your home. Silhouette® and Nantucket Window Shadings lead in light diffusion. These shades soften the harsh sunlight that enters your home and actually spread the light throughout the room to provide more comfortable ambient light with better illumination. In addition to sheer fabric panels, Silhouette® and Nantucket shades also feature soft fabric vanes, which are available in many different fabrics and textures. These shades are available in semi-opaque and light dimming opacities.

In addition to controlling the light entering your rooms, sheers and shadings can also offer UV protection. UV rays can be harmful to both your family and furnishings.  They can cause your furniture and flooring to fade. UV light causes the fibers in fabrics and rugs to become dry and brittle, but Hunter Douglas custom sheers and shadings filter out some of these dangerous UV rays. Depending on the fabrics you choose, Silhouette® shadings can block up to 88% of UV rays, and Pirouette® Window Shadings can filter up to 81% with the vanes open and 99% when they are closed.

Privacy is also an important factor to consider in many homes. Luminette® Privacy Sheers are specifically designed to give you the maximum level of privacy, without forcing you to sacrifice style or light control. These shades feature vanes attached to the back of a sheer fabric panel. The vanes can easily be rotated to redirect incoming light or the line of sight into your room. You can close the vanes completely to enjoy maximum privacy. Pirouette® shadings offer excellent levels of privacy because the vanes can be opened to any position or flattened for complete privacy. Pirouette® shades are the modern fabric shutter alternative.

While functional benefits are important, you don’t have to sacrifice style to get the benefits you need. Choose from a large variety of different styles, fabrics, textures, and color to create the perfect complement to your decor.

Hunter Douglas sheers and shades are available in both manual and remote controlled operating systems. The LiteRise® and the PowerView® operating systems are child safe for your peace of mind. These sheers and shades are Greenguard certified and have a lifetime guarantee against manufacturing and component defects.

To learn more about Hunter Douglas sheers and shadings, visit our decorated design studio today and experience these window coverings in our gallery. In addition to custom window coverings, we offer you furniture, lighting, area rugs, wallpaper, and much more to help you turn your dream home into a reality. In this article, Sew Fine II – conveniently located in the Triangle area of North Carolina (NC) – is here to provide you with tips for finding the right living room blinds for your home. We proudly carry the full line of Hunter Douglas window treatments, including the exclusive Alustra® line of shades.

There are many types of window treatments you can choose for privacy and light control for your living room and other rooms where you congregate. The blinds need to be stylish as well as offer functional benefits. Blinds are a great choice because they provide style, light control, and privacy. At Sew Fine II Interiors, we offer a wide selection of both vertical and horizontal blinds from Hunter Douglas, and our trained staff will help you find the best style for your home. Visit our decorated design studio today to explore the Hunter Douglas offerings in our gallery. You can see, feel, and operate these blinds before you make your final decision on which to choose for your windows.

When looking for living room blinds, it’s important to determine which kind of window you are looking to outfit. For traditional or specialty-shaped windows, horizontal blinds are a great option. They are available in wood, alternative wood, and aluminum. You can choose from a variety of colors and textures to compliment the décor in your room. If you have wide windows or sliding glass doors, you may want to choose vertical blinds. Because they open to the side, vertical blinds won’t impede the use of  doors or windows. Available in fabrics and vinyl vanes there are vertical blinds that compliment traditional, transitional, and contemporary settings.  The Cadence® style of Hunter Douglas vertical blinds have the appearance of draperies when covering the window. When drawn open, they stack compactly, unlike many draperies.

It is important to determine why you need blinds at your window in order to select the best functions offered for the blinds. Light control, privacy, and convenience are all available with Hunter Douglas horizontal and vertical blinds. Fabric vanes on vertical blinds are a great option for filtering the light entering the room. Fabric vanes soften the harsh light that enters from the outside and spread the light around the room for a more comfortable illumination. If you want to keep the natural light out, consider our wood and metal blinds, or vinyl vanes for vertical blinds. The de-Light™ feature on wood and aluminum blinds eliminates the “cord holes” in the slats. No light will penetrate the slat and enter your room with de-Light™.

Hunter Douglas sources their horizontal and vertical blind vane materials from all over the world. Not only will your blinds look great, they will also be lasting fixtures in your home for years to come. For a more classic look, consider Parkland® Wood Blinds, which feature rich hardwood slats in a variety of stain colors and textures. If you prefer a more modern style, Modern Precious Metals® aluminum blinds are the perfect choice for you. In addition to many colors offered, they also feature special finishes for added customization. These finishes include metallic, matte, and pearlescent choices.

Hunter Douglas blinds are guaranteed to be free from manufacturing defects and are guaranteed to operate for the lifetime of the blind. Both the wood blinds and the vertical blinds are Greenguard certified, and both are available with child-safe operating systems.

To learn more about adding beautiful Hunter Douglas horizontal and wood blinds to your home, contact Sew Fine II Interiors today. In addition to our beautiful selection of custom window treatments, we also offer a large variety of other interior design products to help you turn your house into your dream home. These offerings include furniture, area rugs, upholstery, wallpaper, lighting, and much more. Our decorated design studio is conveniently located near Southpoint Mall in Durham. Plantation shutters are a great addition to any home’s decor, but it can be difficult to choose which kind would be right for your home. Hunter Douglas shutters are available in wood, composite wood, and poly-vinyl materials. Each style will fill different design needs and interior conditions. At Sew Fine II Interiors, we can show you all of the options and help you create custom shutters that will meet all of your function and style needs. Stop by our decorated design studio today to see which type of Hunter Douglas shutter is right for you.

Heritance® Hardwood Shutters are made from 100% genuine North American hardwood and are crafted using one of the strongest carpentry methods for maximum durability, dove-tail joinery. Wood accents make your home feel more inviting, which makes these beautiful window fashions perfect for almost any room in your home. Their clean, straight lines and rich hardwood slats will be a beautiful complement to any interior design scheme and will offer warmth and comfort to your home. These shutters are available in 35 different colors and stains. If none of those colors and stains are right for your room, you can even create your own custom color.

Wood shutters look amazing, but they may not be right for every environment. For humid climates or rooms like your kitchen, bathroom, or garage, you should consider the Palm Beach™ Shutters instead. These shutters are made from a UV-resistant material, called Polysatin™, which is resistant to high temperatures and moisture. Because of this, Palm Beach™ shutters are guaranteed never to warp, crack, peel, or discolor, regardless of heat or humidity. The synthetic material also makes them easy to clean, and they require only a mild soap and water. For the ultimate in convenience, Palm Beach shutters are now available with PowerView® Motorization.

If you’re having trouble deciding whether wood or synthetic materials is a better option for you, you can consider a composite wood shutter. NewStyle® Hybrid Shutters give you the best of both worlds by combining the beauty of real hardwood with the strength and longevity of man-made materials. The low-luster finish featured on these beautiful window coverings makes them a high-quality, affordable option for any home. They are available in a variety of stains and paint colors, so you can choose composite wood shutters that complement your existing decor. As with our other Hunter Douglas shutter choices, these shutters can also be custom-made to fit most specialty-shaped windows that you have in your home.

All three styles of Hunter Douglas shutters have a Lifetime Guarantee.  This guarantee protects you from defects in materials, workmanship, and the operation of the shutter.  The PowerView motor on the Palm Beach shutter has a five year warranty.  Hunter Douglas shutters meet the stringent Greenguard standards and are certified by UL Environment.  The Palm Beach shutters are also cerified by UL Environment to be anti-microbial.

To learn more about adding Hunter Douglas plantation shutters to your home, contact the designers at Sew Fine II Interiors today. We have been continuously family owned and operated since 1988, so you can be confident that with us, you are getting amazing products and amazing service. Along with our beautiful selection of Hunter Douglas window treatments and custom-made draperies, we also offer a variety of interior products to help you make your dream home a reality. We offer furniture, custom bedding, rugs, wallcoverings, accessories, and design consultation. Our decorated design studio is conveniently located near Southpoint Mall in Durham, NC.  We proudly serve Raleigh, Durham, Chapel Hill and the surrounding area. Hunter Douglas offers a high quality and customizable collection of wood blinds with design options to complement your home’s decor. Read on to learn about all the ways wood blinds are a great choice for you.

Parkland® Wood Blinds

For that rich, traditional looking hardwood blind, Parkland® Wood Blinds are a great choice. They’re available in more than seventy colors and finishes to complement or contrast with existing furniture, woodwork and flooring in your home. Parkland® Wood blinds can be customized to fit windows of most sizes or shapes.  Operating the blinds is easy with the five different options from which to choose. These options include the latest innovations from Hunter Douglas, PowerView® Motorization. This exciting operating system allows you to control the blinds remotely from home or away, simply by pressing a button. PowerView® can work together with your existing home automation system and can be programed to close at specific times of the day, respond to voice commands or when your home’s thermostat reaches a predetermined temperature.  Other operating systems include SimpleLift™, UltraGlide® and LiteRise®. All of these systems are cordless and designed not only for convenience but for enhanced child safety.

The designers at Sew Fine II can help select the stunning finishes offered on Parkland Wood Blinds.  In addition to paints and stains, Abachi Wood slats are available for stunning texture.  A wire brushed finish is also available.

The Hunter Douglas wood blinds are not limited to just a “standard” 2-inch wood slat.  To optimize the size of your windows and the view, 2.5-inch slats are also available.

Parkland® Wood Blinds offer  coordinating wood cornices, giving them some extra flair. These wood cornices can be paired with any window treatment, including draperies.

Along with natural beauty, blinds made of real wood are a natural insulator, helping to keep unwanted cold drafts out in the winter and help keep heat out in the summer. They also offer superior light and privacy control, making your home that much more comfortable and enjoyable.

There’s no denying the beauty and sophistication that blinds made of natural hardwoods add to your windows. They are a wonderful investment in your home that will last for years in addition to being a  beautiful design choice. All wood blinds from Hunter Douglas are made from 100% sustainably farmed and responsibly harvested American hardwoods. All Hunter Douglas wooden blinds are carefully handcrafted in the United States using a time-honored carpentry process. Hunter Douglas stands behind all of their products by offering the Hunter Douglas Limited Lifetime Guarantee.

When looking to update your window treatments, blinds tend to be a popular option, but that doesn’t mean they have to be boring. Hunter Douglas blinds offer options for orientation, operation, colors, and materials, so you get blinds that offer more for your home. At Sew Fine II Interiors, we have 30 years of experience in window coverings, so we can help you find the right vertical or horizontal blinds for your home. Stop by our decorated design studio with a Hunter Douglas Gallery or contact us today to see what custom blinds have to offer.

Horizontal blinds work best on traditional windows that are taller than they are wide and windows that open up and down. Our Parkland® Wood Blinds are made from 100% real wood and come in a variety of different colors to complement any decor. They have a lifetime guarantee against warping and splitting of the wooden slats.  Wood blinds offer a natural charm and warmth to your home, and you can choose the slat size to ensure you get the right amount of light control and privacy in your home. If you like the way wood blinds look but need something a little more durable, consider Everwood® Wood Alternative Blinds. These blinds are created to mimic the look of real wood, but are made from an alternative wood material, making them more durable than wood. They are also guaranteed to never bow, yellow, or crack, regardless of temperature or moisture, so they are great for areas like garages and bathrooms that can get hot and humid. For a more modern look, check out our Modern Precious Metals® blinds. These sturdy aluminum blinds offer a great alternative to wood blinds, and there are several finishes available to give your blinds the right look for your home, including pearlescent, matte, and metallic.

If you need to cover wide windows or sliding glass doors, vertical blinds are a better option. Vertical blinds open from side to side, so they make using your sliding glass doors much easier than horizontal blinds would. Additionally, horizontal blinds get heavy and unwieldy as they get too wide, so they are not the best option for these types of windows. With our Hunter Douglas vertical blind choices, you can choose from aluminum, wood, vinyl, or fabric in many different colors and opacities. Our Skyline® Gliding Window Panels offer a dramatic look and great light diffusion. By diffusing the sunlight that enters your home, these panels spread that light around your room to better illuminate your home. This way, you can make better use of the natural light that enters your home and reduce the amount of artificial light you use. The Skyline Gliding Window Panels can cover very wide and long window openings with minimal projection into your room.  For a more economic option, our Vertical Solutions® blinds offer a more budget-friendly assortment of fabric and vinyl blinds. If you want more choices from your blinds, Somner® Custom Vertical Blinds offer the largest selection of textures, colors, and treatments, so there is something for everyone.

You can choose to operate your horizontal or vertical blinds by Hunter Douglas manually.  Child safe cordless lift options are available.  You can also choose to operate your blinds using battery powered motors.  Use a remote control….or your smart phone or tablet….to operate these window coverings even if you are not at home.

Whether you need vertical blinds, horizontal blinds, or a different window treatment altogether, Sew Fine II Interiors can help! We also offer full interior design services and home furnishings.  In-home appointments are available as well.  Our design studio is conveniently located in Durham, NC, near Southpoint Mall.
